Chris Cobb Olsen is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Club 92, the Connecticut based cabaret theater and nightclub. He is also currently an instructor at several performing arts and dance schools in Connecticut. Chris has worked for over 20 years as a professional performing artist as an actor, dancer, singer, director, choreographer and teacher. His training in acting, dancing and singing began here in Connecticut and continued both abroad and extensively in New York City. Chris began his vocal and dance training in high school and continued as a Voice & Musical Theater Major at the Hartt College of Music. He studied Vocal Performance with Broadway Voice Coach Steve Potfora (Cabaret, Grease, Forbidden Broadway, Radio City Music Hall) and Carl Haan (Collaborative Arts Project - CAP21, Lestat - Broadway). He trained extensively with David Rae Smith (NYC Opera) in New York, John Komasa in Chicago, and continues to this day with renowned Broadway Voice Teacher, Aaron Hagan. Chris’ dance training began with a heavy focus on ballet at the Albano Ballet in Hartford and continued to include a wide variety of dance disciplines and styles. He was a Soloist in Albano’s Nutcracker and Spring Ballet Concert and then joined the Nakagawa Ballet in Kyoto, Japan as a Principal Dancer where he danced the classical ballets of Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet, Don Quixote and The Sleeping Beauty.
Chris has taught dance from Japan and Azerbaijan to here, at home, in Connecticut. He was the Lead Male Performer and Co-Creator of numerous musical revues at the Chicago based cabaret theater, Voltaire and was selected by the U.S. State Department to be a Cultural Envoy where he co-directed Broadway in Baku. He’s been seen aboard Norwegian, Holland America and Carnival Cruise Lines as a Principal Singer and Singer/Dancer. As a musical theater actor, he’s performed across the U.S. in productions including A Chorus Line, Chicago, Oklahoma!, The Life and 5 separate productions of West Side Story and has shared the stage with a variety of celebrities including 80’s pop star, Sheena Easton, American Idol’s Diana DeGarmo and comediennes Judy Gold, Phyllis Diller and Judy Tenuta. He’s also been seen dancing in several national commercials including McDonald’s and Pop Tarts.
